The toilet is probably the most important part of your home or where you work. Without it it would be almost impossible for any other activity to be carried out in your home. A lot of people know this and they will always try and ensure that their toilets are clean. However, while they are cleaning their toilets they make a lot of mistakes mostly without their knowledge and this makes the cleaning process ineffective. When carrying out toilet cleaning there are 7 common mistakes that people make and which you should avoid as much as possible.
They include;
1. Rushing The Job.
Most people will spray the cleanser and immediately start wiping it away. When you do this the germs that you wanted to kill may still be left behind. Disinfectants need some time to dwell on the surface that you want to clean. Manufacturers will provide you with the optimal dwell time on their label and you should stick to it. If the dwell time is not there you can wait for a couple of minutes before you start wiping. This will ensure that all germs will have been killed.
2. Combining Cleaners.
You will find mixtures of all types of washing detergents in our homes. People will mix different cleaning chemicals with the idea that they will clean better. You should never do this. The cleaning detergents contain different chemicals that will react when mixed. Some of the mixtures could even release harmful gases that would pose a serious risk to your health. When you combine other cleaning detergents they lose their properties and become ineffective in their function. Always use the cleaners as they are or according to the manufacturers’ instructions. They know best. Always choose the least toxic option if you have a variety of cleaners to choose from.
3. You Do Not Wear Rubber Gloves.
Some people think that if your skin is healthy and you are the only one who uses the toilet you do not have to wear gloves. Our skins are very permeable. The properties that cleansers have which makes it possible for them to cleanse germs and dirt means that it is also quite easy for those cleansers to find their way below your skin. The cleansers contain toxic substances that may cause some of your major body organs to fail. Always use rubber gloves when cleaning your toilet.
4. Using Too Much Spray.
In toilet cleaning one of the most common mistakes that people find themselves doing is using too much spray. For some reason or another they tend to think that using too much spray will mean that their toilet will be much cleaner. Sprays contain aerosols which are toxic substances. When you use too much of the spray your body will come into contact with them and this can lead to allergies and infections. Use spray in moderate proportions to avoid this.
5. Cleaning Your Toilet Windows On A Sunny Day.
When it is sunny you will probably want to clean the windows then since that is when the smudges are clearly visible. This is true but the heat will make the cleaning ineffective. The heat will cause the cleanser to dry very quickly and this will leave your toilet windows with streaks. The best time to clean your windows would be on a cloudy day.
6. Not Cleaning Your Toilet regularly.
You may think that you clean your toilet enough times but you actually do not. Every time somebody uses the toilet it is a certainty that some germs will be left there. The germs will continue piling up till the next time you decide to carry out toilet cleaning. In order to avoid simple mistakes such as this, it is advisable that you clean your toilet as frequently as you can.
7. Overlooking the Germ Spots
There are spots where the highest concentration of germs can be found. They include faucets, toilet seat, flush handle and other germ spots. These spots are easily ignored by people and they focus their attention on those spots that do not need a lot of attention. The germs here will build up and by the time you realize it it may be too late. Pay close attention to germ spots when toilet cleaning.
